Rap Sheets, Great Rap or Terrible Rap

Good Rap, Bad Rap: Hippity Hoppin All the Way to Jail

I will begin by telling you that I am not well versed in rap music.  Most likely because I am 75-years young! My generation was Frank Sinatra, Al Martino, Dean Martin and Rosemary Clooney (famous aunt to George Clooney — Yeah! you know him!)

Are you a big fan of rap music?  If so, what is it that draws you to like it?  Is it the beat and rhythm of the music or is it the lyrics?  Maybe it is the attitude and irreverence of the performer that gets you going — again I am 75 years young and that’s all I’m going to say!

Whatever it is, it is hard to argue the impact that rap music has had on the music industry in general and even more our culture overall.

That being said is the attitude and irreverence portrayed by many rappers real or is it just a show for the cameras?  Well for 15 rappers, it got as real as it could get.  As we were surfing the web this morning looking for a good criminal justice or crazy bail bond story, we came across this list of 15 rappers who have done jail time (or currently doing jail/prison time) on the site hotnewhiphop.com.

The list includes the following rappers:

  • Fat Joe
  • Beanie Sigel
  • Tupac
  • Lil Wayne
  • T.I.
  • Remy Ma
  • Lil Kim
  • Foxy Brown
  • Gucci Mane
  • Chief Keef
  • Ja Rule
  • Cassidy
  • Max B
  • Shyne
  • Lil Boosie

According to the article, the charges on these rappers range from tax evasion to gun possession to manslaughter and attempted murder.  Now we aren’t sure if any of these rappers or other performers are sponsored by a bail bondsman or have one on speed dial, but we are starting to think that it might not be a bad idea.  To see the original article with pictures and a list of the charges for each rapper click on the link below.
